3.1. Do all things have a beginning and an end? An exploration into linking things together

• So another year passes and I pick up to some extent where I left off near South Gate by The Adelphi just South of the river.
• Before that I had a happy dérive over water under train with an old map of the bounds and some chance meetings by waterhouse place not far from old haunts and new.

• Life is a riddle sometimes and moreso for a good week of linking things together both with work and the wider world of play and the universe of life.
• Fellow time lord Tim the Sorcerer introduces a professional geographer to the midst dazzling luminous to be sited and with protection from the elements
• I dismount Kogo, my trusty stead.
• Together we’ve toured a daily routine commute through bumps and scrapes and recycle engineering.
• Still there is consciousness and together a meander path is traversed with propensity.
• It’s all a riddle, but following the links you see...
• There once was a metaphor that learned like a simili to represent the answer to the meaning of life.
• Some say that was 42 and that is my turn of revolutions around the solar nexus.
• Enjoy the journey they say, it is not all worm or rabbit holes and destinations, but the journey dear fellow, and yet this riff is one of boundaries and terminalia as much as it is one of linking it all together…

The Semiotic University

The above schizocartographic map is a collage of a walk that took place on the University of Leeds campus on the evening of 23rd June 2011. The walk was run by Gerry Turvey, with assistance by myself: two walks took place, each one led by one of us. This map reflects the walk led by Tina.

It was a random exercise in urban exploration (developed from an idea by the German choreographer Thomas Lehman). It required a small group of people, a willingness to have fun, and a sense of imagination: a series of timed walks, followed by short interventions of fantasy from participants. Most of the participants were from Leeds Psychogeography Group and/or the university.
